Birmingham Local Medical Committee represents and supports General Practice to ensure that GPs are properly valued and their skills properly utilized in serving the public. The BLMC is:
• democratic – comprising elected local GPs
• representative – regularly canvassing the views of local GPs and representing General Practice to PCTs and the Strategic Health Authority
• statutory – with rights and responsibilities defined by Act of Parliament
• professional – concerned with promoting quality in patient care and upholding standards of professional practice
• independent – funded by GP's to support General Practice
• supportive – offering advice and support on all matters affecting professional activities

Dr Charles Zuckerman
Medical Secretary
Charles has been a general practitioner in Northfield, Birmingham for many years and Secretary of the LMC since 1981. His experience and knowledge of the GMS and PMS Regulations are of particular value, when advising and supporting GPs and their practices.
Dr Robert Morley
Executive Secretary
Bob has been in post since early 2004 and his role has been to help with the negotiations for enhanced services across the city as well as working on a variety of policies between the health authorities and the LMC. He is the Birmingham and Solihull Representative on the BMA General Practitioners’ Committee, which is the national body that negotiates terms and conditions for the profession.
Mrs Margaret Ritchie
Business Manager
Margaret has worked in the health service for a number of years and manages the day-to-day business and finances for the LMC.
Beverley Williams
PA and Administration Secretary
Beverley supports the Medical Secretary and the Executive Secretary, organizing and servicing LMC meetings and working as part of the administration team.
