What is the Local Medical Committee?
LMC's are local representative committees of NHS GPs, and represent the interests of all NHS GPs in their localities to the NHS health authorities. LMCs represent your views too as trainees over matters such as the trainee contract. We would recommend that all trainees take the opportunity to attend one of their Local Medical Committee meetings as an observer to gain an understanding of the role of LMCs and the importance of representation at the local and national level. Use this website to contact your local LMC for further details or your local LMC representative, who might be your trainer or a GP in your practice.
AiT Committee
The Associates in Training Committee is a West Midlands Deanery and BMA GP trainee forum. There are trainee or AiT representatives in each of the Vocational Training Schemes in the West Midlands. For further details please contact kirsty.protherough[at]gmail.com

Regional Trainers Committee
All GP trainers have regional representation on the Regional Trainers Committee which discusses educational, Deanery and contract issues. This body has links to the LMC and Deanery, and every trainers workshop is entitled to a representative. The group largely meets virtually via a internet discussion group plus there is an annual general meeting. Please contact Mark Water for further details: mark.waters{at}scalingtheheights.co.uk
